On Redeeming your Time

 Sons,

Time is one of the things that once it is not used, you cannot get back. No wonder why the Bible tells us to redeem our time. To use it wisely. Focus on what is important and use it with whom you love and for His service which will not be in vain .  We learn that from king David and how he fell into sin.

2 Samuel 11 "In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem."

Kings (as he was), went to battle, but he stayed. That was his first mistake! Not doing what he was supposed to be doing. He stayed, and so boredom, idleness, and time, became his enemy! Learn from him!

-Identify what are the things that matter in life most (Bible reading, private prayer, family time)

-Be intentional! if we are not (I had to learn this), we fall very easily in killing time instead of using time! Killing time is so easy - it takes no effort at all. Using it though.. it  will require work, planning, discipline,...  but if you look at men that are admirable in many areas, they have redeemed their time. SO make a schedule, plan and win battles the day before (planning ahead and sticking with the plan).

-Limit your screen time. Find interests that help you grow.

-Exercise regularly.

-Avoid unnecessary distractions. Play games with your family.

-Laugh out loud often (daily) at least one time with your wife.

-You have a big task/ challenge/ goal? Break it down is small goals/tasks. "I want to kill this sin or that for good, I want to be more discipline in this or that, I want to  work on my marriage, train this character trait on my child,...."

- it is good but it may be hard to attain with no plan to follow. Start small , say this instead: "I will kill sin/work on my kid /schedule a date with my wife/ speak kind words/ think on what is good/ will not complaint.... the next minute/ the next hour/ this day" that's it! Tomorrow, you will worry about tomorrow. You will kill sin tomorrow in the same way.

-Be accountable of your time.

Use it wisely because the days are evil and an unattended time and heart is easy prey.

"Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil." ~ Eph. 5:16

Mom.
