On His Compassion
Dearest Sons,
You are men.
Time passed.
You are husbands, fathers, and sons that teach this mother so much.
Marco - You are going to start seminary this August to change careers. You are quitting, for the sake of Christ, your job and moving your family to start a new life. A life you know is filled with uncertainty, but you are trusting on a permanent God, Who does not change, Who is faithful and Who will be guiding you every step as you trust in Him. And that is my prayer for you.
Seb - You are in construction. Working with your hands building, working hard, excelling in hard work and diligence. And this too, for the sake of Christ, will be used for His glory and the expansion of His Kingdom. Some are called to ministry, some are called to support the ministry. By prayer, financially, encouraging words, or whatever the Lord requires from us.
What a blessed life you have! God has been faithful to both of you in so many ways. He has dealt with you (as with me) with mercy and not wrath, He has protected you from so many evil things and has given you perseverance to this day. With all the highs and lows.
So we are here, standing firm in the Truth, not because of our abilities, our will, our diligence and hard work. We are here still standing, because His hand that has sustained us to this day, and He has had compassion on us.
We are standing here, like soldiers. We may have some battle scars, but we are standing! Fighting daily the good fight, killing sin daily, and learning to love Him more.
Some have left us (Erica Faith) already - went to see our Lord before us, and we have been so close to drowning (or so it felt) because of sadness, sin and guilt of sin, or dry hearts, ... but we did not drown, not because we are strong people. But because HE IS GOOD! HE has kept us to this day! So rejoice in that and give thanks!
Do not lose sight of this. When you doubt your way, remember what He has done in your life. Remember how He has kept you. Remember how He has not abandoned you to your sins. But we are here standing, because He is so very gracious to you.
So, live your days in a way that it is worthy of the calling that you have received. And this includes, believing that He is good. Kill sin. Remember what He saved you from - the sins you have done and the sins (if left on your own) you could have done. Remember and be glad!
You know all this.. but it is good to remember it often. I know I do.
